  2. 1. Below are the 4 children’s rights and how I understand them:

    (a) the child’s right to survive begins at the moment of conception. His/her health is the primary responsibility of the parents right after they knew that the baby was developed. Nutrition and medical treatment also goes along the way. Likewise, appropriate shelter and standard way of living is also included in the children’s right since those will help him/her to survive. For a clearer vision, appropriate shelter for me means home (i.e., with his/her family receiving the appropriate love and care). Standard way of living would pertain to the children’s the basic necessities (e.g. food, clothing, nutrition, etc.).

    (b) the right to develop, for me, focuses on developing the children’s potential by providing him/her the opportunity to be exposed on different activities (e.g. physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, cultural). This may start through sending the child in school. In school, children are educated and trained to hone their talent and skills appropriately.

    (c) the protection rights of children means protecting them from any possible harm like abuse, neglection or exploitation. This, for me, is related to the right to survive. Why? Because as long as the children is living in a residence with the love and care from his family, he or she will be safe; for this right is possible only if the children has a responsible guardian(s). This may sound cliché, but I really believe in the saying that “There’s no safer place than home.”

    (d) the right to participate pertains to giving children the opportunity to have an active role in the society. This may happen through allowing them to join different activities and programs in community such as sports fest and community service. Moreover, sending children to groups where they share common interest is also a way of providing their right. Through participation, children will have the sense of belongingness.

    2.

    (a) The right to survive help on the physical development of the children. Shelter and standard way of living enables the children to grow physically fit and healthy.

    (b) Cognitive functions of children are improved through the right to develop. Sending children to school enables them to develop their knowledge or intellect since they are educated in a way that their talents were discovered and improved.

    (c) The right to be protected gives children opportunity to develop their social/emotional abilities. Being safe from any harm makes them emotionally stable and socially comfortable.

    (d) If the children were granted to have their right to participate, their communication ability is developed. Exposing them on the society or community is really a great help on their development. Through active participation, children will have the sense of belongingness; allowing the community to contribute on their improvement.

    3. As a teacher, I can protect the rights of these children through the following:

    • Educating the parents/guardians on the rights of the children, believing that these rights should be practiced first from the children’s home.
    • I believe that the right to survive is really the parents’/guardians’ role, if in case that the parents/guardians fail to provide those rights, I will call the attention of the appropriate authority (i.e., DSWD)
    • In the right to develop, teachers have a great responsibility in assisting the children. As a teacher, I will do my best to help my student (children) to enhance their skill or talent. I will guide them in honing their potentials as this will have a great impact on their development.
    • In the protection rights, I will see to it that my students are not exposed in any harm. I will establish an open communication with them regarding their safety, giving them the idea that they can tell me or share to me if they were abused, neglected or exploited.
    • In the right to participate, I will encourage them to join groups, guilds or clusters in which they have common interests.

  3. 1. Children have the right to survive, to develop, to be protected from harm, and to participate. Children are tiny humans, they are helpless, vulnerable, and dependent to their parents, these parents are the one's responsible in providing their needs, they have the right to be nurtured in all aspects of life; physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, etc. A child should be nurtured physically, fed with nutritious food, provided with shelter, and clothes.
They have the right to develop; emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. These needs are fulfilled when they feel that they are loved, cared for, and they should not feel being neglected by their parents. These things will mold them on what kind of person they will become when they grow up. Intellectually, they have the right for proper education, to go to school, to play with other children, to be able to develop their communication skills and relate well with other people. Spiritually, they should be nurtured with whatever their belief is, regardless of their religious orientation.
They have the right to be protected from harm, we should guard them, protect them from any physical or verbal attack.
And lastly, they have the right to participate, to mingle, to integrate with other people in the community. This will boost their self confidence and self esteem in dealing and relating with others.

    2. These rights are essential and connected with each other in the development of the children. If their rights to survive are fulfilled their rights to develop will also be satisfied. When the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of a child are well taken care of, they will feel loved, secured, and cared for. A good foundation of their childhood will hone their skills, attitude, and outlook in life, this upbringing will make them a better individual when they grow up.

    3. As a teacher, I will assure that their rights are not neglected. I will call the attention of the parents if I see unusual behavior from the child. We teachers, are their second family in the school, we have the same shared responsibility with their parents. I will be an advocate of their welfare. If I see something beyond the norms and standards, I will communicate with the parents regarding the issue, so we can discuss and provide immediate intervention wherein our best interest should be for the welfare of the child.

  4. 1. The way I understood the children's right is that it evolves around the basic need for existence and advancement to live a decent life as a growing human being and live to its fullest potential. For existence, this covers the basic need for survival such as food, water, medicine, etc. This also refers to a child's right for security and protection from harm in forms of abuse, may it be physical or psychological such as sexual exploitation or violence. This simply implies the right of the child for the basic biological needs and protection from harm to survive this life. On the other hand, with regard to advancement, this refers to the right of the child for development and participation. Development may refer to the enhancement of a child's talent, intellect, emotional, or psychological capacities where in most of these aspects are nurtured by the schools. Now with regard to participation, this may refer to the right of the child to participate in any activities or to express his thoughts and ideas as part of expressing his creative/thinking mind.

    2. The fundamental purpose of these rights is to protect a child from any form of abuse, repression, exploitation, etc. , that would hinder the development of a child. This rights will ensure adequacy of needs such as food, medicine, shelter, physical, mental and emotional needs. This rights will also give the child the change to realize his full potentials by providing proper education and allowing him to participate in any way he can to improve him self and his community.

    3. As teachers, we need to keep an open eye, mind and heart to identify any abuses or inadequacy to our students. Once we have identified these student with problem, we may then need to evaluate the degree of the problem and may ask for a assistance from expert (guidance counselor, doctors, school nurse, etc) or may coordinate the case to the appropriate government agency for proper actions. It is also important that teachers and parents/guardian have a close working relationship for the improvement of the child. This will ensure an open communication between the teachers and parents/guardian and may help in identifying or addressing an issue with the child. With this, we may then can ensure that the child rights are met and protected and will ensure a better development of our students.

  5. 1. Rationality is the essence of human beings. What separate us from any other living beings is that man has the capacity to acquire knowledge, use their skills, form their own language, and to express their emotions because of rationality. Having this in mind, rationality entails our humanity. Human rights are the offsprings of rationality for these are necessary for a life of dignity. Man gives so much premium in protecting their rights as we also protect the rights of their fellow men. In our society where rights are given so much importance, rights are also given to children as we lay down the foundation of sense of worth and value of humanity.

There are four fundamental rights given to children.

Right to Survive: It entails that one is given a wholesome environment to live in as part of our goal to have a healthy life. Health is prioritized by our society through giving proper nourishment physically, emotionally, and mentally. Children should be protected from pollutants of the body through having a clean place to live as well as a community that will respond to the call of proper upbringing for the young. Parents should not only be the provider of sustenance but also contribute to moral upbringing of their young. In addition, the government must ensure that children at all times will be protected from any form of physical, mental, and emotional violence through enacting laws that will eliminate criminalities.

Right To Develop: This right ensures that every child must be given the chance to express their ideas and opinions, and be able to participate in forum and organization as they are also part of the development of the society. A child is a recipient of an environment where he can feel and understand that he belongs to a society that develop the skils, abilities, and talents of the children. A child’s growth must include right to obtain appropriate information, pratical knowledge, and moral education that he/she will be using in the society through formal and informal education. Also, society must protect this right through giving a proper venue for the development of the specific skill of the child as part of preserving the dignity of the child.

Right to be protected from harm. It is not only the responsibility and obligation of the parents to keep away their children from harm, but also the different social organizations that composed the society. Harm means any form of violence that involves physical, mental, emotional, and spirtual violence. Children must be protected from these detrimental things that will be endanger the life and future of the children.

Right to Participate. This captivates that children must be given the opportunity to join organization that will develop their capabilities and hone their God-given talents. A child must also be equipped with skills and knowledge that he/she is going to use to be active participant in the society. Education must empower the children to have a balance self and relationship with others through developing his/her socio-emitional aspect of his/her life.

  6. 2. These rights will assist in the development of children as this will serve as a framework for government, the state, our community in enacting laws and regulations that will make sure that thse rights are being done in our society. With these rights, there will be accountablity and responsbility to respond to the call of protecting and developing the future generation of the world. The rights of the children will serve now as a guiding principle so that the different social organizations will commit to a community that respect the dignity of the children as bearers of rights and responnsibilities of our society.

    3. As an educator, I can help the different rights of the children through anchoring my objectives, teaching methodologies, medium of instruction, and evaluation with the rights of the children. I will use the rights of the children as a framework of educating the young generation. As an educator, every children has the right to have a conducive learning environment, to have the venue for class participation, to be protected from possible harm that is caused by our society, and a curriculum that will develop their skills and transmit practical knowledge that they can use in their life. Their different rights should become the best interest of the school by practicing non-discrimination inside and outside the classroom and have a culture of empowerment and participation in the school. To assist the students, the different stakeholders must work hand in hand together to ensure that all their fundamental rights are given to the children.

  7. 1. As I understood it children’s rights are specific privileges given to child to protect them from abuses, give their needs, treat them equally and free from discrimination help them to have a balance life and develop holistically. In order for them to have a harmonious relationship with each other and their environment.

Right to survive, no children can survive if we will not help them. This right is providing what they need like proper care for their health, food, shelter, clothing and even spiritual needs.

Right to develop, this right focuses on the child’s education, i.e. school/s and other institution which will help then in their development such as: emotional, psychological, social and spiritual.

Right to participate, it’s more of providing an avenue for them to focus, enhance, develop and enjoy their gifts or skills. (E.g. sports, arts, theater play, singing competition, martial arts and many more) this will help them to socialize and participate, it’s also a way to know their value in our society.

Right to be protected this right is focused on children’s protection against harmful elements, disease, war, and any form of discrimination. It’s one of their privileges to have a safe home and to be love by their parents and guardians.

    2. These rights can save children who are suffering from poverty, homelessness, abuse, neglect, preventable diseases, and unequal access to education, and justice systems that do not recognize their special needs. Through these rights children can develop their moral and legal recognition of their emotion, physical and psychological vulnerability, their need for special care, and recognition of the obligation to respect and ensure respect for their rights and for other people, including having their views respected.

    3. For me every school should involve to this matter not only the teacher but then as a teacher, I will do my best to initiate or propose to the school that we should have a “care group” were in we teachers will help and support children or students who are abused and undergoing or undergone child labor, sexual exploitation, juvenile justice and military recruitment that restrict the rights of a child. Every Parents and Teachers Conference I will take time to discuss the children’s right to the parents for them to be aware with their actions towards their children and also help them to be aware on what is happening in our society.

As a teacher I will monitor my students by making my own brief record of each child’s background. In case there will be a case of abuse I will immediately report it to the DSWD and ask them to take action with regards to the situation of my student.

I will also insert play in my lessons and activities because play can develop their physical skill, cognitive concept, language skill and social skill. May be I can discuss their rights as a child so that they will not be afraid in case someone will abuse them.

  8. 1. Children’s rights are the essential elements that children need in order to live in dignity proper to a child and to a human person. By the term “essential” means that it should be given at all cost and a duty for adults to deliver those. These rights are classified into four: (a) survival rights – which pertains to the basic necessities in order to live a humane and decent life, (b) developmental rights – which aims to the realization of the potentialities and capabilities of each child, (c) participation rights – which refer to the involvement of a child to his/her self and environment or in the society, (d) protection rights – which safe guards the child from any form of abuse and exploitation. All of these form the rights of children which must be respected.
    2. Without these rights development is impossible. We cannot talk about development if these rights are not provided or respected. These rights serve as the foundation for any development because it leads us to a goal. It shows us the proper way of implementing and doing things.
    3. As a teacher it is my duty and responsibility that at all times these rights must be respected and implemented. It means that my role as a teacher is not only confined within the walls of the classroom but also beyond so that there will be a holistic approach in assisting the development of children. As a teacher it is also my role to speak or fight if I learned that my student is being abused or mistreated outside the school confines.

  9. 1. Describe children's rights in your own words.
As for me, children’s rights must include the following:

Right to life. This is the very first right. Without this right, other rights will be of no use at all. This means once life is conceived, there must be the right to be born. This constitutes their protection against abortion or other means of inducing life from them.

Provision. Other rights included here are adequate provision of basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and etc; health care, education, services, recreation and so on.

Protection. Rights included here are protection from economic and sexual exploitation, drug abuse, inhuman treatment, trafficking and so on. These rights ensure children safe places to dwell, play and grow.

Participation. Rights here are freedom of expression, thought, association, information from national and international media, to be heard in any judicial and administrative proceedings and so on. These rights guard their participation in their communities, give them liberty to avail state-based or community-based programs and services for them and involve them in matters which concern them.

    2. How can these rights help in their development?
Rights securing provisions of the needs of children help them grow with a healthy body, sound mind and emotional preparedness and be well educated reaching their full potentials as individuals able to perform their future roles as contributors in the society.

On the other hand, their rights pertaining to their safety helps them enjoy their basic rights. This will prevent children from having psychological and emotional problems. Living a normal life is very important to child’s development. Without these rights protecting children to have a wholesome environment to live in, there is a higher possibility for them to be a menace in the society.

Their rights regarding their participation in the community ensure their social development. Children are part of a community as well. Therefore, the state must also make services and programs for them. These rights educate children about their community and make them aware of institutions around them.

To sum up, all children’s rights guard children’s welfare by letting them grow morally, psychologically, physically and emotionally sound.

    3. As teachers, how can you protect the rights of these children in order to assist them in their development?

The Heart and Attitude. Since teachers are the second parents of the children, as a second parent, I must possess the heart of a real parent caring and considering only the good of the children entrusted to me by their parents. Without the heart, every action will be done inconsistently. The heart gives the teacher a sense of responsibility and accountability toward the children. I think this is the first. I must get involved in the matters of the children as far as my responsibility directs and limits me. In matters that need an action, it should be as prescribed by law, legal and proper. I must also speak up in behalf of these children when necessary.

Practical Actions. First, I must keep track of the development of the child whether he or she is really progressing or not. With this, I could take a necessary action. Second, I will also assess external and internal factors affecting the child. Third, I will have adequate communication with the child and the people he or she is interacting with. With these steps, I will make programs to help the children develop and make sure they are not deprived of their rights.

  10. (1.) These are the following rights of the children . Right to life, right to have a name, right to protect from danger , right to education, right to have a good health. This rights are very important to them because they need to exist and develop their aspects of life physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

(2.)It would be served as the guidelines of the parents for developing their children while in their very young age. By means of exercising these rights by their parents through raising their child in a good environment, teaching them good manners and right conduct at the home so that they will become a good children in their home and in their society and keep those wherever they are and to give their necessity.

(3.) As a teacher, and as their second parent in school, I should maintain the development of the children by giving them proper education and teaching them well so that they will become a better children in the society.

  11. 1) The 4 following rights of children:
    a) The right to survive: It is the child's right to entails right to a healthy life and the essential needs that are most basic to existence, such as nutrition, shelter, an adequate living standard, and access to medical services.
    b. The right to develop: Every child has the right to development that lets the child explore her/him full potential. To an education that that not only lead the child to a path of learning but promotes understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups. Also the right to play, leisure, cultural activities, access to information, and freedom of thought.
    c. Right to be protected from harm: It entails that all children be nurtured and protected from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation in any form. It rages from a child’s right to be protected from, having to work, to face any kind of physical or mental abuse and to have a caring, secure family.
    d) Right to participate: This is a right where the child is children's freedom to express opinions, to have a say in matters affecting their own lives, to join associations and to assemble peacefully. As their capacities develop, children should have increasing opportunity to participate in the activities of society, in preparation for adulthood.

2.These rights can help their development by having a healthy, joyful, and trusting life if the child's right is used correctly. Their lives should mature gradually, as they gain new experiences. A good foundation will hinder the development of a child. It will make the child have a positive outlook in life.

    3. As a teacher, I will make sure to follow their rights, not abandon their rights. Keep an open mind and understand why my students are acting the way they do. Having a close relationship with my students will both benefit us, since teachers become the second set of the students parents. So if anything is going on, they won't hesitate to tell me right away. As a teacher I will do everything that will make my students accomplish what they want to accomplish.

  12. 1. For me, children's right is merely defined as the special attention and/or needs that should be given to the minority group of people. These rights should be possessed by an individual since it will impose a great impact on child's development Children's right usually focuses on providing them their daily needs including food, shelter, and clothing. Also, the right to be loved and feel secured must be exercise likewise providing them quality education that will prepare them in the future. it is very important that these rights will be given to each and every child so that it will surely mold all the aspects of their development

    2. As mentioned, providing children all their needs will help them build their own existence. It will not just aid their physical development but all aspect of child's development including mental, emotional, social and spiritual. To site an example, a child who grew up in a well-raised family environment, receiving all his/her daily needs and enrolled in a good university that provides high quality education will surely have more upright development compare to a child who grew up in a slumber area who works at his/her early age and don't even receive proper education.

    3. A teacher plays a vital role in the development of children since they are the one who provide them knowledge that will build their understanding in different aspect of life. As a teacher, good assessment is the primary key to help the children. They should always be conscious and keen observers on the attitude of the children since it will reflect if they are experiencing something and/or if the rights and needs are not properly provided to them. Also, for some instance that they notice that there are some things that hinders or greatly affect the achievement of children's development teacher should do something as much as possible lend a help so that it can be prevented from continuing.
